After a rough stretch in the season, Terrell Owens said in an interview that Philadelphia would be a better team if Brett Favre was quarterback instead of McNabb. McNabb's response was that Owens remarks were like 'black on black crime'. This brought the NAACP into the fracus when one of their leaders criticized McNabb for playing the 'race card'. Owens played his way off the team as the Eagles eventually suspended him for the rest of the season after his numerous critcisms of McNabb and the team.
