A claim for the best female rap artist has
seen a bitter rivalry between Lil Kim and Foxy Brown for several
years. The main cause of the rivalry is not known, but Foxy said
it all started when Sean “Diddy” Combs (then known
as Puffy) said in a song that Foxy was trying to copy Kim’s
style. Then Kim added her two cents on a song off her album The
Notorious K.I.M. saying that Foxy “ain’t a star”.
Foxy then responded when she collaborated with Capone-N-Noreaga’s
Bang Bang. On the track Foxy pretty much said she was the best
and called Kim’s last album “lame and weak”.
Though the two feisty rappers kept their feuding to their songs,
things almost turned deadly when people from Junior Mafia, Kim’s
former group, and members of Capone-N-Noreaga ran into each other
at a radio station in New York City. After getting into an argument,
the opened fire on each other. The result of the shootout left
a man in the hospital. As a result, Foxy publicly tried to make
peace with Kim, saying their rivalry got out of had gotten out
of hand and it needed to end. Kim refused to make peace, though,
saying that she wouldn’t ever be Foxy’s friend. |
