This one-sided feud came about
when Kanye had a list of rants about MTV. First, he didn’t
like the fact that for the VMA’s he had to perform on a
smaller stage instead of the bigger main stage. He also didn’t
like the fact they let Britney Spears open the show instead of
him, since he felt he had a hit record and she “hasn’t
had a hit record in years”. To top it off, when he didn’t
win any of the five awards he was nominated for, he was caught
on camera backstage throwing a tantrum about how he felt “betrayed”
by MTV. He had vowed to never be on MTV again. Then even though
he didn’t like Britney being the first performer, he felt
that MTV had exploited her for ratings. Instead of fighting back
with Kanye, the MTV execs released a statement, saying that they’ve
had a long “collaborative” and “meaningful relationship”
with Kanye and hoped to continue it. They went on to say nice
things about his performance, basically kissing his azz. No word
if Kanye accepted the kiss up. |
