Durst said on the Howard Stern Show that he slept with Spears. There were photographs taken of Durst and Spears entering her Los Angeles home and him not leaving until the next morning. On the MTV show Total Request Live (TRL), Spears said that Durst "wasn't her type". It was reported that Durst wrote the song 'Drop Dead' which he posted on his band's website in retaliation to Spears' comments.
